The tragic story of a beloved pet gone wild is making headlines across the web today. A woman named Charla Nash was brutally attacked by a dometicated chimpanzee named Travis.
Travis the chimp was 15-years-old and starred in Coca-Cola and Old Navy commercials during his t.v. career. Once retired he became the pet of Sandra Herold who treated the chimp like a human. She fed him steak and lobster dinners and ice cream for dessert in the dining room. She also gave him wine and recently the antidepressant Xanax.
The 200 pound chimpanzee suddenly became violent attacking Herold's friend Charla Nash who was visiting the house. The chimp brutally ripped off Charla Nash's face during a horrible 12 minute long attack. Sandra Herold began stabbing the chimp in attempts to save her friend and called 911 for help:

Police shot Travis the chimp once they arrived on the scene and Travis the chimp was killed. Not only was Travis fed Xanax but he was also suffering from Lyme disease. Victim Charla Nash is currently in hospital in critical condition with extensive injuries to her face. The chimp's owner could possibly face criminal charges if it's decide that her actions put others in danger.
